      passwords when connecting ?

      Hi

Help please - to put my mind at rest.

I have had Sky Broadband for around 5 months now and am connected via the ethernet cable to my desktop pc - it does not have a wifi capabilities.

I got a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and want to connect to the internet on that so I have just entered the SSID and network Key to the Wii (from the card I got with the details on in the Sky Broadband info). This has worked fine - I selected WPA-PSK and entered my network key (again from the card I got from wky when I joined)

My worry is that others will be able to connect to my broadband. Am I correct in thinking that although the router is broadcasting the SSID name for anyone to find, people would only be able to connect if they knew the network key ?

      Thanks

      Mark

Yup that is correct, you can also turn off the SSID broadcast at the router so that other people can't see the name. (althought I have no idea if the Wii supports this)

Also another option to try is powerline homeplugs where you use the electrical wiring of your house as ethernet carriers.

I dumped wi-fi due to wireless congestion and now I won't go back.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Thanks - I'm glad that people can only connect if I give them the key.

      Cheers
