      Automatic conection ?

I have set up my sky wireless and it is working fine. I'm using a newlink SB adaptor which I bought from a local shop rather than buying one from Sky.

My only issue is that I need to entermy network key each time I want to go oline ie each time I start the compuer. Is it possible to set it up so that I will connect automatically each time I switch on. It's alright for me but i think the kids ( and the wife) might find it a struggle otherwise.

XP or Vista? Have you used the software that came with the device or are you using Windows to control it? It should be remembering the key for you.

XP. I think I'm using the software that came with it, such as it was. How would I know ?

      Re: Automatic conection ?

From your other post you said you moved your adaptor to another USB port, if you have done this it is normal for windows to re-learn the device and its connection requirments again. If it continues to keep asking when it's left in the same USB port then that's a whole different issue.
Easiest way to see whats controlling it is:
      Control panel
      Network connections
Right click wireless LAN connection icon
      Choose properties
Check if there are 3 tabs, if there are 3 the middle tab will be wireless settings tab,
Click on the wireless tab and look for a tick in the box at the top that says something like "Allow windows to control this device",
If not ticked, tick the box. If it is ticked then Windows is in control hopefully.

      Re: Automatic conection ?

I managed to solve the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling and possibly clicking something different. Anyway, now connecting automatically but thanks for the advice.
