      Re: N96 WIFI Issues

I have the same problem with my Nokia N96 & E71 and Sky Netgear Router DG834GT. I can connect fine with my N95 8GB.

I've posted on Nokia Forums and checked out everything they suggested and can't get them to work.

There needs to be an update from Nokia on this I think or might complain to Sky the router is out of date and try and get te new black router.

You are probably loading the first page from the cache. The gateway error usually refers to incorrect/incomplete settings on the phone.
Check the security settings on the phone and Firewall settings on your router.

Ok a work around. On the Netgear router diable security change, untick the box Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID). so no one can see your router. Change Name (SSID): to something more secure and new. Connect all your household wireless devices manually with "none" for security and the new SSID. When they are all connected click on Wireless Station Access List, in available wireless stations all your devices should appear click add. You are then protected by mac address access and hidden SSID. I have no idea if this is super secure but I live in a low threat area and it allows me to use IPlayer.

Corrections. Logon to the Netgear router disable security option radio button under wireless settings. Next untick the box Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID). Change Name (SSID): to something more secure and new. Connect all your household wireless devices manually with "none" for security (no WEP, WPA etc.) using the new invisible SSID. When they are all connected click on Wireless Station Access List, in available wireless stations all your devices should appear click add. You are then protected by mac address access and hidden SSID. I have no idea if this is super secure but I live in a low threat area and it allows me to use IPlayer.
