      Which USB adaptor?

      Hello everyone.

Just a quick question. I have a desktop and am currently connected to Sky wirelessly using an Edimax USB wireless adaptor. I am having all sorts of problems, connectivity wise. Can anyone recommend the best USB adaptor to use in conunction with my Netgear router. I've thought about buying a Netgear adaptor but all the reviews state that it is rubbish and dramatically overheats.

      Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

      M.

      Re: Which USB adaptor?

And as I have stated in other posts Netgear support is really dire.

Are you absolutly desparate to use wireless cos I have ditched the wireless and gone for homeplugs and I am very happy with their performance (except for the Xbox not seeing my media center PC, thank you netgear)

And I am even breaking the installation guildlines and having them on extenion gangs of 4 at either end and still getting almost full speed out of them and they are getting quite cheap for the 85 Mbps type.

For wireless adaptors I can't really help you as all my laptops had dell mini-pci cards built into them.

If it is this one you have, it gets some rave reviews, so possibly there is something wrong somewhere that has nothing to do with the adapter. With the price and these reviews I would certainly buy one.

      Re: Which USB adaptor?

      Cheers guys.

I'm embarrassed to report that my issue is now resolved.....guess what.... it was a driver issue!!!! I just downloaded the Vista driver for my adaptor and hey presto, all is working as it should.

      What a plonker!!!!
