Moved the computer, lost the WiFi (IP Renew issue)

I had my laptop and desktop both connected to my Netgear router without problem. My Desktop was in the dining room (temporary office) and my laptop roamed the house successfully, all the while with good connection. I've just finished decorating my office so moved the desktop upstairs. Now I can't get the desktop to connect to the network.

It can see the network as it's on the list when I refresh networks. It just hangs on 'Renewing your IP address'.

DCHP is set to allocate IPs on connection and I have 252 possible IPs to pick from so I know it's not that. Also, I have had my laptop sitting on top on the desktop base unit with good connection to the network so I know that there aren't any restrictions due to the location of the computer.

I also tried manually inputting the IP, Gateway and DNS data. That gives me about 10-15 seconds of connection and then I lose it again. Any suggestions? Thanks.

have you fully reset the router (hold in back) or firstly switch every other wifi thing off and reboot the router (off and on) and uninstall the wifi device from device manager and all setting tor the network and try again

You may have to change the channel on the router. It could also be the signal is being blocked by walls floors/ceilings etc. Try changing the orientation of the router. All wireless adapters are not equal, just because one is connecting OK, does not mean that another will.
