      netgear wgr614 v9 + devolo dlan duo

at first i'd like to say that i don't know much about computers so please don't go hard on me:)

the thing is i've got a sky router downstairs, i think it is Sky Netgear CE0681 and since i moved to the loft i've had some serious problems with my wireless connection

someone recommended me to buy the netgear wgr614 wireless cable router and a devolo dlan duo kit to receive the wireless signals, i connected it (dlan duo adapter) to the sky router downstairs through ethernet and have the wireless cable router connected with 2nd dlan adapter upstairs, as said in the manual.

but my wireless connection keeps going on and off all the time (especially in the evenings) and i can't figure out what the problem might be.

could someone maybe help me out? any help appreciated:)

In situations like this the first best move is to change the wireless channel on the router. Try this first.

If you are using the WRT router to connect wirelessly, try turning off the wireless in the Sky router.

changed the channel but it didn't help,

the funny thing is the internet light which should probably be green most of the time keeps going yellow sometimes in the sky router but my netgear router still shows me that everything is working fine although i don't have a connection and i just have to go downstairs and unplug the sky router all the time

Sounds like interference -- can your wireless adapter detect any neighbouring wifis -- if so move to a channel at least 3 stops from the strongest. As the issue seems to be time-dependent, is the problem a video sender or cordless phone base near the router or computer ?

Re: netgear wgr614 v9 + devolo dlan duo

If your Sky router internet light is turning orange this means you are loosing the connection to the exchange. Your Netgear wgr614 will still show it is connected as it is connected to the Sky router and not directly to the exchange.

It looks like you have problems with your connection so the best thing to do is trouble-shoot it by taking the router stats from the normal position and then from the Test socket and post them here. Details of how to do this can be found HERE
