      WG111T adapter - driver problem

Hi, brought a netgear wg111t adapater to go wireless. Installed it and all seemed to be working well. Until, the compouter froze, now even alt, control, delete worked so had to use restart button. When it loaded back up the driver was gone. In my systems, hardware it the netgear adapter has a yellow ! mark on it. I can't install the driver from the computer or the disc and have to uninstall it and then reinstall it for it to work again. It has done this now 3 times in 4 days. Any ideas. I am using w2000. Hope it makes sence. Di.

Are you sure that the driver you used was suitable for Win2000?

Try looking for a specific Win2000 driver on the web.

      Regards,

      Felix

Yep best bet is to download direct from netgear and then just run the .exe file that you download. This will load the drivers to the relevant place on the PC.

Re: WG111T adapter - driver problem

have used the correct driver but now have a problem with it not being able to be used on a user account. Have contact netgear to try and sort this out. Will let you know how I get on. Not impressed so far.

Re: WG111T adapter - driver problem

after a week of emails back and forth it now appears that this adapter is only compatible with W2000 when using an administrator account. I am not prepared to do this with my children's accounts, for obvious reasons. I am now stuck with going back to my ethernet cable. I shall keep the adapter though as I am hopefully (if santa is generous) be getting a new Vista pc for xmas, with which, I am told, it will work. Thanks for the help guys. Di

Re: WG111T adapter - driver problem

That is a strange one! Usually when you install a piece of hardware it is accessible from all accounts. Does this effect it when using WEP security to connect, or is it just with WPA? If it is just with WPA, you could use WEP which is natively supported in Win 2000. It is not so secure, but unless you are unlucky enough to have an active hacker near you it should be OK, especially if you also use the Access List as well.
