      Wired v. Wireless

      Guys I need some help.

I have been with Sky broadband for about 2 years and had no problems when connected via cable.
Last month, I decided to go wireless....what a bad move. I bought an Edimax EW7718 USB wireless adaptor to work along my Netgear router. I can connect, with good signal strength (about 5 feet away from my router and unobstructed), but I often get 'Page cannot be displayed'. I can refresh and hit 'back' button and I can see the web page. I cannot view videos on Youtube - just get a blank white area where the video should appear. I cannot successfully download ZIP or RAR files or any MPEGs or AVIs over 2MB. My download speeds are fantastic but no use when I cannot play the movie. I've had a play with a number of settings without success. OS is Vista Ultimate.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

      Put the wire back in
Seriously tho, you could try experimenting with different wireless channels, it may be a neighbour is using the same channel as you or some other equipment in your house is interfering.

      Thanks Dholdi.

I'm embarrassed to report that my issue is now resolved.....guess what.... it was a driver issue!!!! I just downloaded the Vista driver for my adaptor and hey presto, all is working as it should.

      What a plonker!!!!

We've all done it so don't worry - admitting it is the first stage of recovery!
