Any ideas for "Limited or no connectivity"

Yes I know, another one but as has been previously been said, everyones circumstances are different. Apologies in advance if there is a thread refering to this problem. I have had a search and can't find anthing specific.

Right I have my PC which has a Netgear WPN311 Rangemax wireless PCI adapter, and I have the Sky Sagem F@ST 2504 modem.

Most of the time I have a wireless connection to the internet and when this is the case I have no problems at all. However on regular occasions I do have issues.

It mainly occurs when I first log into my windows account. All the processes begin and everything starts up. When things are going fine the internet will connect automatically. On some occassion though after it has connected, a message will pop up from the icon in the tray stating that I have limited or no connectivity. When this happens I have to disable the connection and then enable it. This sorts the problem out and I can carry on using the internet.

As you can imagine this really gets on my nerves having to do this alot of the time.

When my partner logs on to her windows account she never encounters this problem.

Does anybody have any ideas or solutions for this problem.

Re: Any ideas for "Limited or no connectivity"

You could trying changing the channel for the wireless within the router.

log in

http://192.168.0.1

Username: admin
Password: sky (unless you have changed this)
  • Click setup
  • Change from 6 (or whatever channel number) to 11 (or a different one)
  • Click Apply at the bottom

See if it is any better - remember the original channel in case you need to change it back afterwards.

Could you just clarify, are you referring to your partners account on your PC or is it a different machine? What OS are you using?

Re: Any ideas for "Limited or no connectivity"

limited or no connectivity occurs when your network adapter (wired or wireless) fail to communicate correctly with your router and windows cant get an ip. You ususally end up with one that starts 169.xx.xx.xx. Try a different port on the router if using wired or update your drivers for wifi or even look at replacing equipment, unfortunately things just break for no reason

The word 'account' seems to indicate that this is the same machine. If so it could be 'privileges' problem. Clarification is needed.

Re: Any ideas for "Limited or no connectivity"

^^^ Yes, but its a little strange that sometimes it works and sometimes not, priviliges should stay set, maybe the "account" thing is has just been incorrectly phrased ? Like you say further clarification is required.

Re: Any ideas for "Limited or no connectivity"

sorry I've not be back in touch sooner. To clarify. Myself and my partner use the same machine. I am the admin and she is just a user. I use a wireless connection because a wired one is not possible. The problem only occurs when I have just logged in to my user account. Like I said earlier this is easily rectified but massively annoying.
