Modem Losing Connection to Internet - PPP Server Down

Hey guys im new here so sorry if this is a dupe thread

My connection keeps failing....every 5-10 minutes or so....well sometimes it stays on for like 30 minutes then fails.

When i check the router it says the PPP Server is down and on the router itself the @ symbol has an orange light meaning its not connected to the net.

I have the black sky hub and its connected to the master socket. The socket is 1 socket but underneath it there is a cable&wireless connection for an old tv thing...its not in use anymore though.

      ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023c.d20e
      Modem Status PPP Server Down
      DownStream Connection Speed 8672
      UpStream Connection Speed 750
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

      System Up Time: 49:45:50
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 4 3 0 0 0 0:00:03
      LAN 15 0 0 0 0 49:45:50
      WLAN 1964762 1505922 0 0 0 0:03:27
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8672 kbps 750 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.5 db 13.9 db
Noise Margin 8.7 db 8.5 db

      Thats the stats.

Im on my pc upstairs using a belkin wireless connector. The problem is not on this pc settings though as the orange light on the router starts flashing.

I am using the microfilters that sky sent me but it does lose connection when people phone the house phone (which is plugged into that microfilter too)

Any ideas how i can fix the constant connection drops? Thanks in advance!

I appear to be having the same problem and I too would like some advice. on what to do. It's been doing this for quite some time now.

      Any advice would be appreciated.

Your stats look a bit strange. Do you have a Test socket? If so please plug in there and take your stats. The Test Socket link below will show you how it can be found.

Re: Modem Losing Connection to Internet - PPP Server Down

Ahhh I think I am getting somewhere now with my problem. I contacted Easynet to check out the exchange for my area which was easy as pie as they dont ask you to key in any details unlike sky do. I found out from the helpful easynet guys that everything is running as it should be and there are no problems. Since reading the last post now I am wondering wether my problems are occuring due to " Modem Status PPP Server Down" and it being an actual line fault (cable fault even) that could be making this happnen. If it does turn out to be the actual cable then I really do have a lot of work on my hands jeez

Can you please keep to your own thread, scattering information around the forum only serves to confuse those who want to help.
