That is with the ethernet as the wireless is shown as disconnected. If you make sure the ethernet is disconnected by removing the cable, then try the same with the wireless.

One thing you can do which may help is the disable Internet Protocol V6. This is not required at the moment and can cause problems. Open the Network and Sharing Centre, click Manage networks on the left, right click the icons and select Properties then untick the entry for Ver 6.

Re: Cannot connect wireless through broadband

That looks OK too, except as I said disable IP Ver 6.

Try downloading Netstumbler from the link below and use it to find the other networks around you. Then change your router channel to be as far from those shown as possible. Channel 13 is not used too often, so if no one near you is using it, try that first.

Re: Cannot connect wireless through broadband

I did download that yesterday as I had read another post on here which suggested it, as soon as I had downloaded it my pc froze, then went really really slow, then my ie had to close as it had encountered an error, it took me ages to open anything and my pc only went back to normal when I uninstalled netStumbler. Is this normal??

No that is not normal, I have installed it on many machines, from Win2000 to Vista and not had a problem. What security are you running in the way of Spyware and Anti Virus?

Try installing Netstumbler again, this time right click the .EXE and choose Run as Administrator. See if it will install

Re: Cannot connect wireless through broadband

I have just noticed that you have a USB adapter, it works with most of these, but unfortunately there are some that it doesn't. Yours may be one of them.

To go of on a tangent, what connection manager are you using? The one that came with your adapter or WZC. If you are using the adapter software, try using the Windows wireless manager, it works pretty well in Vista. You can usually select this by right clicking the wireless icon in the Tray and selecting 'Let Windows Manage my Network'.
