Severely limited wireless range - Sagem F@ST 2504

      Hi all!

I was wondering if you would be able to help, I'm in a bungalow and I can't get more then 10 feet from the Sagem F@ST 2504 router without losing wireless connection, its quite bad! I think there must be something wrong with it as my old netgear one I could get quite a qay from.

Any ideas on what I can do to remedy this?

Re: Severely limited wireless range - Sagem F@ST 2504

What channel are you currently running on? What mode is it using (eg B or G or both), what is standing between you and the router (remember the more brick walls the weaker the signal on the other side and if going diagonally through a brick wall it makes the wall thicker in effect.

Try using different chnnels. For example on mine channel 6 works best but for others channel 2 or 11 works better.

Just the one wall, its really that bad! No lead paint or anything!

It's defaulted to channel 6 and mode 54g (not sure if thats what you meant by mode..)

Use the drop down box to change the channel as suggested. I would advise starting with 13 and working down,

One other thing I forgot to mention is, try moving it a little. Wiggle the antena, turning the unit etc etc. Funny these wireless things, sometimes.

It sounds to me as though you may have a couple of black spots its just a case of getting those covered.

I should also have added, download Netstumbler from the link below. This can be a big help with wireless problems.

Can you access the router? Type http://192.168.0.1 in the browser address bar, then type admin for the username and sky for the password. What security software do you have installed, ie antivirus firewall etc?
