I was wondering if anyone could give me any help. I have the Netgear DG834G Sky Router which I've been connecting to via USB Adapters and has been fine.
However I've just recently bought a new PC with Windows Vista 64bit but many USB adapters are not compatible with the 64bit version of Vista so I read.
I am therefore unsure what to do. Should I get a PCI card? If so, are they reliable and what would be the best one to purchase for it to work with Vista 64bit?
Or if anyone knows of any USB adapters that connect to the Netgear router but are also compatible with Vista 64?
THIS gives the Netgear compatibles and as you have a Netgear router, they may be the best bet. You may even find your existing adapter just needs 64 bit drivers.
Thanks guys for all your help. I may well need the above links if all else fails.
After searching high and low I managed to find 64 bit drivers for my USB Adapter (Linksys WUSB54GS)
However, though when it does connect it connects fine, I now have the problem where Windows Vista 64 takes ages locating my sky router so it can connect and assign it an IP (like 5 - 10 sometimes 15 minutes).
It finds all other networks straight away, assuming they're in the neighbouring vicinty but just can't find my own router (which is downstairs) for ages which is frustrating.
Sometimes when I move my adapter it locates it quicker but mostly it takes an age to find my Sky Router.

Sounds like a reception/interference issue.
Try raising the router above furniture level and check what channels the neighbouring routers ar on -- and switch channels as far as poss from strongest. Relocate cordless phone base, video sender away from computer or router.
You could also go into the WLAN cards properties and untick, Internet Protocol Ver.6. This can cause connection problems and it is not required at the moment.
