      Hmm,

Its actually rather funny because when I got my HP 2133 Mini note back in May it was on Suse Enterprise 10 and I experienced difficulties also. Since then though I have altered it to use XP and just about to try and alternate OS again.

While we are at it, I reckon we should all do a SkyUser review on the devices I can cover the HP 2133 Mini Note and the Asus eeePC 901 lol.

I might be able do one for the Acer Aspire One (we've got the Linux 8GB SSD model) if I can ever prise it off my son and get my hands on it...

      Hmm,

One thing about the Acer 1 Aspire, the screen res is a max of 1024x600 isnt it ? Thats one thing I like about the HP 2133. The screen res goes to 1280 x 768 and so everything fits on far better. I only say this as when I was using the Asus 901 next tot eh HP I noticed the difference.

Yes 1024x600. But for 199 from PC World it's a steal!

One for the Mods I think. Members experiences with Homeplug and NAS devices would be usefull as they are becoming more and more popular.

That was for the 512MB RAM & 8GB SSD model running Linux. It's quite a little cutey really! Ideal for casual surfing, email, IM etc at home, or doing the same when out and about via a 3G Broadband USB modem (which is what I'm planning to do with it when I get it back).

First off, it's probably going off to university with my son for a few weeks. He prefers to have a MacBook, but we're holding off buying one until the model range is refreshed - which is allegedly imminent. Still, I will get his 2 year old iMac (which is still a lovely piece of kit!) in exchange...

Re: Asus eee wont connect wirelessly

Yer, I had a look today.

The acer casing is an almost rip off the asus eeePC case (the way the hinge works etc). The advent one that was next to it for 50 more looked better for the money as it had a far better res and also had an 80Gb hdd and 1Gb ram. The Advent one is the MSI Wind rebadged really.

Re: Asus eee wont connect wirelessly

Yes I read about the Advent being a rebadged MSI WInd. To be honest, price was the main factor for me + I went with SSD over HDD as I expect it to get knocked about so lower risk. It's amazing though, when you think about it, all these Netbooks are giving a lot of bang per buck - especially when you consider how expensive laptops used to be (compared to desktops) a few years ago!

PS. I'm waiting for a Sandisk 8GB SDHC card from Play.com at 13.99 to expand the My Disk storage. Another bargain me thinks...

Re: Asus eee wont connect wirelessly

I wouldnt even buy the asus SSD version wih the intention to bang it about to be honest. Ok so the hdd wont break, but there is still a lot that could go wrong. Other than that the drive protection on the HP covers this.

It is running when the notebook is on and the second it turns off. I would take care on all things just the same regardless so the SSD was never an option for me.

The major things I dont like about the asus, acer, msi and advent other than the resolutions are the keys. They are simply too small. In comparison to the keys on the HP they are minute. Too many typos are possible on one of those things. I still manage a lot of typos on the HP but dont get as many I dont think as I would on the others.

So then, are we doing a review section ? Wife might buy me an Ipod touch in 2 weeks (today if I have my way lol). So thats another thing to cover (also how to Jail Break it).
