Help! Can no longer connect using wireless connection

I have been using Sky Broadband for several months now, with no major problems after initial connectivity issues (which I solved by browing this site, so thanks!)

Today I have come to connect to the Internet and my wireless connection is failing. A message popped up saying the network needed a network key (which is odd seen as this has been saved on the laptop for months). But ANywya, I went to enter the key and noticed new options that I have never seen before, such as WPA2, and it is also asking me to choose a 'network suthentication method'. I entered the information asd I believe to be correct and get an error message saying 'windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile. Specific error: The service has not been started'.

I have tried connecting on various security settings, and get the same error on all of them.

Please can someone help me, I am tearing my hair out with this!

      Thanks

Re: Help! Can no longer connect using wireless connection

      Try this:
      Windows Vista

To start Wireless Zero Configuration in Windows Vista you need to log in as an Administrator.

Click on Start and Control Panel
Select Administrative Tools and then Services
In the Services box scroll down the list of Services (Local) until you find the one labelled Wired AutoConfig and double click it.
In the Wired AutoConfig Properties (Local Computer) box change the Startup type to Automatic
Click on Start and once the service has started click on OK
Now find the service labelled WLAN AutoConfig and double click it.
In the WLAN AutoConfig Properties (Local Computer) box change the Startup type to Automatic
Click on Start and once the service has started click on OK
Go to File and Exit to close the Services window
      or
Windows Vista - Start - Control Panel - [Network and Internet] - Network and Sharing Center - Manage wireless network
Right click on the icon for the wireless device, choose properties, there may be 3 tabs on this screen, the middle of which is the wireless settings, on this tab look for a tick box that allows windows to control the device.

You're welcome. We often find that putting windows back in charge can help things along, it also simplifies troubleshooting in future.
