      Homeplug & Ping times

      Lo all.

Been told that my Sky Modem is on it's way and I've started looking into how to connect.

While I know that it's better to be hardwired to the thing, this is not going to be possible so I came across this on another post. Homeplug.

Does anyone have any info on how well they perform when playing online games? I really need a good ping time, and I'm not sure wireless could supply that without constant spiking.

      Cheers

I can't comment on how well this type of kit performs when playing games, as I'm not a gamer, but speed is generally on a par with a direct Cat5 cable to the router - certainly much better than 802.11b/g wireless!

I have some devolo dLAN AVdesk 200 kit and it streams video around the network quite adequately...

As speedy says they will be most certainly be better than wireless.
In your search for a lower ping you will probably need to get sky to reduce your max delays, do a quick search on here and all will be revealed

      Cheers folks.

I've seen the maxdelays issue on a few threads while I've been on here at work.

Things seem to be moving along nicely now that BT FINALLY got my line installed.

& it only took them 7 weeks.
