      No wireless - help

      Hi there

I have been running sky BB for about 3 months now. I have a PC connected to the router via ethernet cable and I have also been running a laptop wirelessly, with no problems at all.

However a few days ago my laptop stopped being able to recognise the wireless network. It will pick up all my neighbours wireless networks, but not mine. The wireless light is on on my sagem router, and I can't seem to find any reason why it wont detect it. It's not the laptop, as my xbox 360 wont detect it wirelessly either.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks

      Re: No wireless - help

Rebooted the router recently? I would try going into 192.168.0.1 and turn off the wireless and then re-enable it.

Thanks for the reply - I have tried that but I did not work. I cant understand why it was all working and then now I cant even pick up the wireless network. It's not that its too far away, I have tried it with the laptp next to the router and nothing!

My SSID number was SKY17871,it has now changed to SKY17879 over the weekend.Check your wireless icon on the toolbar to see if its number has changed. If it has enter new number in your wireless setup.

I have found with the sagems, that if the channel is set to automatic can be a little bit of an problem.

Set the channel on the router to 11 you should find that you can then connect.

      Re: No wireless - help

Thanks for the advice, changed channel to 11 and now I can see the network. The laptop is trying to connect to it, and has a signal strength of excellent etc, but just says "acquiring network address" constantly and never connects? Any ideas? This is so annoying as it has worked perfectly for months!

      Re: No wireless - help

try disabling UPnP and manually assigning an IP address...

try IP as 192.168.0.4, default gateway as default (255.255.255.0) and gateway as 192.168.0.1 and see if this helps...

Also may want to clear out the key in use by windows and put it back in, sometimes the acquiring IP loop is linked to an incorrect key.
