I have the exact same problem. I got a new computer yesterday from PC Specialist with a TP TL-WN851N PCI Card. It picks up our Sky network intermittently and when it does i try to connect but I get same error message as the thread author. As yet, I've been unable to connect at all.

The OS is Vista, and today I've tried changing router channel, taking off the encryption, and uninstalling the driver for PCI card. With none of that working, I've gone back to what it was orginally.

Bit fedup anyway, as we've had other problems with this router (i.e we have to plug it in to the 'master socket' otherwise the router resets itself when the phone goes). Typically, the master socket is in the living room and the new computer is in the loft room which doesn't really help matters. I'm going to PC world tomorrow to possibly purchase a Netgear USB wireless adaptor, or maybe even a homeplug adaptor.

If it does that when not on the master then you may need to post stats from the master and from the socket you want to use as you may have internal wiring issues.

It's not the router, it your setup.

If the router works in the master socket but not at the extension then you either have no filters on the other sockets or you have problems with your internal wiring or even a faulty filter.

I would advise going for Homeplugs. If you go to PCW don't let them fob you off with the 14mbps type, get at least a pair capable of 85mbps. The slower type may be OK if you have a slow internet connection speed, but if you ever want to set up a home network, they are next to useless. PCW is not the cheapest or best place to buy anything

Have a look here for an idea of what is available.-

Then shop around for the best deal.
