Unhappy No Wireless Network on my Vista PC

I've no wireless networks showing in my PC networks. I've just gone active with Sky BB but can't connect using my PC adaptor.

My iPhone has picked the Sky router up straight away, as well as several other secure networks from surrounding flats.

Could this be a Vista compatability issue or other setting? I don't use the Ethernet cable.

Have you gone to the Network and Sharing Centre and set up a Wireless network? It is always better to make the initial connection with ethernet, it is easier and gives you confirmation that the PC is properly set up.

Re: No Wireless Network on my Vista PC

Ive sorted it. It was a distance/height issue. My PC and wireless nodule are in the room next door (a couple of metres & a thin wall) and it barely picks up a signal...2 bars if I'm lucky.

Will changing Channels increase router signal strength?! Soon find out...

It may do but is more likely to be your "wireless nodule" (WTF?!). If its one of those el-cheapo WiFi USB wotsits that is likely to be your problem. I can pick up my Sky router, which is located at the front bay window of an upstairs room, from the back garden to about 100ft away from the house. That is three substantial brick walls (none of this modern breezeblock carp) and a conservatory away!

Other things that spoil wireless are foil-coated fibreglass wall insulation - makes a very nice Faraday cage, that does
It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.
