      Broadband Wireless Help

Hello all, I have a Dell Inspiron and I have Sky broadband and up until yesterday it was working ok. However for some reason I am unable to connect

The signal strength is shown as excellent

I click connect and it states "Windows cannot connect to (and then my SSID)"

I click Diagnose the problem and it states "Wirless association failed because Windows did not recieve any responses from wirless router or access point"

I can used broadband using Ethernet cable, but not wireless. My housemate can use wireless ok, it's not working for me.

      Can anyone help please?

Try checking for driver updates for the adapter.

And try disabling your firewall as well as this could be blocking the inbound traffic from the router.

Seems strange that it was working ok yesterday but not today. Have you reset the router or has windows installed any automatic updates ? To check which wireless adapter you have click on device manager in control panel. Scroll down to your network card and it should tell you what make and model it is, you could then connect via ethernet and check the website. You could olso try a system restore to yesterdays settings and see if that solves it.

Right to find updates for the adapter you need to right click on computer or my computer depending on which operating system you have then you click on properties and if you have xp click hardware and then device manager but if you have vista you just click on device manager and when that opens look for network adapters in the list click the plus symbol beside it and find your wireless adapter in that list and then right click on it and select update drivers.

Try reseting the router a couple of times and try again.

Try turning off WZC, which I assume you are using to manage your connection. Have a look at THIS thread, the problem may be different, but you never know.
