      New Customer - HELP!

I've just recently signed up to Skys Mid package as my line can handle up to 7.9 mb (so seemed pointless paying for up to 16mb when my line can't handle it)
My connection date was Wednesday 27th Feb and all went well and I was getting a stable speed of 6.5mb to 7mb and have been every day since then - until today! my speed has dropped right down to 1.9mb! Is this normal? I have been using Speedtest.net to do my speed checks. Can someone help me please!

The best thing to do would be to get into the test socket, remove any extension cables, change microfilters and if this does not work phone sky and explain that you have a slow connection and then hopefully you wont have to wait long and get put through to the customer solutions team and they will sort it out for you there is propbably a lot of errors on the line.

      Re: New Customer - HELP!

      a) post your router stats so we can see the actual speed you are connected at and the errors on your line (see mognuts router util in my sig)
      b) are you wired or wireless. If wireless, try wired to see if it is signal interference.

      Re: New Customer - HELP!

ok, sky cant help you as the router is connecting at 8Mb and you have a reasonable noise margin.

i would say it is a poor wireless signal. as i said in my last post, try it with a wired connection to the router and see what difference it makes then.

oh and no, neither of those were what we meant. as i mentioned, use the mognuts link in my sig to gain your full detailed stats.

      Re: New Customer - HELP!

i think the OP has not got the netgear V1 router and not sure mognuts works the the sagem or v2 netgear,

doing a wired test as suggested above will confirm there is nowt wrong with your connection, the problem will be with the wireless.
do you have any new electrical devices plugged in near the router or when you search for your wireless connection do you see loads of new points ?
you may need to change the channel and/or move your router and see if you get any improvements

      Edit: Moved thread to wireless
