      can't connect no matter what I try

      I have been trying all evening to connect my wireless adapter (Sweex) via my PC to my Netgear Router (the white one). I have gone through all the tutorials in here, have changed settings a number of time still can't connect. The adapter says it is connected with good signal strength, but when I remove the ethernet cable it does not work.

      can anyone help??

      If you are removing the ethernet cable without rebooting the PC then it may not work as the ethernet card will be holding the PC's IP address.

      I think you need to boot the PC without the ethernet cable so that the wireless adaptor picks up the IP address from the router.

      Always start with wireless security disabled -- try applying it once you have a reliable wireless connection.
