Red face Not getting full speed through wireless adapter.

Got a Netgear WG111T and connects fine, but only connecting @ 54Mbps and adapter allows 108Mbps.

Thing is, when connected to sky router with network cable i get 12Mbps, but with the wireless card i only get half that.

Signal strength is good. I'm using Vista Home Premium and Latest drivers/software from netgear.

How can i get the same speed wireless as i do wired?
Is it possible? if so what settings do i need to change?

      Thx

Re: Not getting full speed through wireless adapter.

That's the problem with wireless - any interference and the signal quality drops (even though signal strength may be high) which drastically lowers throughput.

Try changing wireless channels and/or repositioning the router.

you could try changing channel numbers or moving router/ariel position, not sure you will ever get full speed from wireless

I'm getting 100% on signal, is only about 8 feet below me. through a floor (Joist not concrete)
Can the router deliver such speed through wireless?

my car says it will do 150mph and i aint ever got that out of it

(only kidding with above comment, will leave others to explain more about the wireless issues, i use homeplug adapters myself as there is only one wall between me and the router and i get no wireless at all, but i also think its a bit pants and unsecure)

Changed channel and the router is the new one with no ariel.
      No difference in speed.

Both the new routers are 54Mbs only.

Re: Not getting full speed through wireless adapter.

is your wireless adapter 802.11b or 802.11g?

oops, re-read your post and it says you have a 108Mbps adapter... duh!
