NetGear WG111T keeps scanning for wireless network

All of a sudden I have started loosing connectivity to my Netgear router using the NetGear WG111T wireless adaptor from my desktop.

It first started with dropping the connection randomly, then reconnecting.

I have tried the adaptor in my laptop and it works fine.

I managed to talk Sky into sending me a new router (not one of the new one's unfortunatlly!) now, I cant get any connectivity at all.

The NetGear Smart Wizard keeps scanning. It finds the wireless netowrk on channel 6, then just keeps on scanning.

Any idea's as I am coming to the end of my patience with the whole sky package as I've had problems for 7 months and everything was perfect with BT

      Thanks !

Did you change the network key when you first tried connecting to the new router? If not it hasn't got the correct information to connect with.
Personally I would let Windows control the adaptor and then clear all networks from the list and let it find your SSID again. Once it finds it give it the new network key (normally all letters and all in capitals) and see if that works. One way of forcing the issue with a USB wireless device is to unplug it, leave it out of the PC for 30 seconds and then plug it into the PC via a different USB port.

      Problem solved

I have binned the NetGear adaptor and re-installed my old BT Voyager 1055 wireless USB apaptor and I have connected straight away !

Roll on June when I can dump Sky completely !

You could be encountering interference with a neighbor's WLAN, change to a distant channel. Both channels 1 and 11 do not overlap with the default channel 6; use one of these three channels for best results
i find channel 11 gives me a rock solid connection with the fastest speed
