      98se help

      Iíve just installed a pc card wireless network adapter in an old Toshiba laptop running 98se to connect with my Sky router.
      The adapter works perfectly but I just canít get the computer to use it to connect to the Internet, Iíve tried all kinds of configurations in both Internet options and in network set-up but no luck.
      The router works well with my other machines, running three different operating systems.
      Thanks.

      Have you turned encryption off on the router as I don't think 98SE will support WPA PSK?

      I also have an old 98SE laptop and can confirm it does not support WPA-PSK but it does support WEP.

      Re: 98se help

      I've disabled the encryption, the adapter is still working well, but I think I've messed up either the network configuration or the LAN settings or probably both!
      What do I need to do in the network configuration? I fiddled with everything to be honest: In the properties I've changed stuff in the bindings and the advanced stage including the address (is that ip or mac?)and chanel.
      Can anyone just tell me what needs to be in these settings?
      Thanks.

      Re: 98se help

      Have you tried removing tcp/ip and then re-adding it??
      Unable to Browse / Winsock Fix for 95, 98 and ME
      Just remove tcp/ip and then reboot (1-7), go back into the settings and re-add it (50-53). Don't mess with anything else or install anything else in the instructions.

      Re: 98se help

      There are other items in that list eg.

      IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol-> Dial-up adapter

      should they be removed?
