      Angry Wireless Help On Laptop!!!

      Dear SkyUsers,

i have recently just switched from bt to sky broadband and whilst with bt i had an adaptor which worked perfect with my acer laptop. I have installed skys internet cables and box and get internet when the ethernet cable is plugged in into my laptop, but as soon as i take the ethernet cable away i get no internet. Now my acer laptop is wireless enabled and i have enabled it but i seem to get no connection from box to laptop and vice versa. i feel i may need an adaptor card. Please can anyone help with regards to connection or setup or installing as my head is battered and im sitting on the stairs with a numb a.r.s.e!!!

      many thanks

      Useless SkyUser!!

      Re: Wireless Help On Laptop!!!

Using the cable connection to the router address the router's user interface via internet explorer (see help files on this site or on Sky CD). Disable wireless security (encryption) temporarily. Once you have a reliable wireless connection select an encryption standard which is supported by both laptop and router -- if having problems with WEP try applying the HEX translation produced by the router's interface to the laptop instead of the passphrase. Preferably use WPA which is the Sky default.

And do all of these things with the laptop in the same room (and close) as the router! - at least til you have liftoff.
