WEP/WPA won't allow wireless access! huh...?

Hi... This is my first post so please be nice

I've been hunting around to see if I could learn anything from other people, reading lots of threads about wireless connectivity issues - but so far I've not found anything quite like my issue...

Basically my G/f has Sky BB, the freebie version, she has my old clunky but still quite useful P4 notebook with a D-Link PCMCIA wireless card inserted. This notebook has a fresh install of XP, with SP2 and fully updated, with Zone Alarm and AVG - pretty much clean otherwise...

I have a Vista Toshiba Satellite Pro with Centrino. Both Notebooks work wirelessly at my place over a Linksys router to Virgin (cough - sorry about that!) with WEP or WPA. Here at my G/f's pad though neither will connect unless I disable the router security! Huh!

I phoned Sky Tech Support for help but 3 calls later all they repeatedly say is that the issue lies with the D-Link card and/or my Toshiba's inbuilt wireless ability and I should speak to the manufacturers! This is the bit that confuses me - clearly the notebooks work wirelessly, and not just at my place too!

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I now have each Mac address setup on the router to restrict access but would love to get some security sorted too!

      Cheers,

      Rob.

Hi - thanks for the quick response...

Yeah I've been through that already I'm quite familiar with setting up WPA on the router - but I then can't connect. Sky Tech support have also walked me through the same routine 3 time to no avail!

      Thanks though...

      Rob.

Had a problem with wireless which I resolved by changing the channel on the router, may be worth a go.
