      No wireless network connection icon

I'm trying to set-up a wireless network but when I go into Control Panel/Network Connections there's no wireless network connection icon, which renders all the help files from Sky and on XP useless, so I'm basically stuck at the first stage. How do I open up the Wireless Connection manager without having the icon?

I tried giving that a go although the options weren't similar to what the help files had. Would consider myself to be reasonably computer literate but I'm a complete novice when it comes to wireless.

      1. XP Home - Service Pack 2
      2. Attempting to use the Netgear router I got from Sky plus a Belkin PCI wireless adaptor
      3. Desktop

Re: No wireless network connection icon

IF there's no wireless adapter listed in Network connections in control panel it sounds like the PCI card isn't installed - check Device Manager in the System option in control panel (control panel>system>hardware tab>device manager) and if it has a triangle next to it reinstall the drivers

Re: No wireless network connection icon

You should have a 'Wireless Network Setup Wizard' in Control Panel. Use this to setup the wireless network. Also, Belkin should have installed (or have a program to install) a admin tool to deal with wireless adapter properties.
