      Weird Wireless Problem

      hi,
ok ive got what would appear to be a very weird problem.

using the sky dg834gt router (v1 i think)

one of my family members has a nokia N95 phone and can quite happily connect to wireless conenction but the minute she attempts to browse a secure site (usualyl gmail) the phone just trys to load page then says gateway connection lost. i have setup my old linksys wag354g in bridge mode so it is connected via ethernet to sky router and she can connect wirelessly to that and login to gmail perfectly fine using the wireless on linksys, i can connect using my sony p990i phone and login to gmail fine on the sky router, also another member of my family has a xda orbit and can again connect and via gmail fine viawireless on sky router. . im wondering if anyone knows why this is happening. only wireless setting ive changed is the excryption from wpa-psk to wep as my p990i does not support wpa.

      thanks

Thats got me stumped m8, however I would strongly recommend you change your wireless settings back to wpa-psk. WEP is just completely pointless nowadays. A 10 year old could log onto your network.

      Re: Weird Wireless Problem

I am aware of the insecurity of WEP but currently it is not possible for me to use WPA as the p990 phone is used heavily by my whole family for voip and it does not yet support WPA encryption. as a side note I tried forcing a static ip and dns on n95 today and it then failed to load any site at all so im beginning to think it may be phone related but it doesn make sense it works fine on linksys but not sky router
