      Connection through non sky router

Since subscribing to sky Ive since found that I cannot connect through the wireless router to my works VPN. Spoke to the sky tech guys who said its not possible with the sky router but is possible to link to sky broadband using my D-link router but they could not advise me as to how. On the set up on my d-link router it asks for my ISP provider (sky isnt on the selection list so have to select other) but then it asks for Protocal (PPPoE, PPPoA, Dynamic IP, Static IP, Bridge) and Encapsulation (LLC or VCMUX). As its trying to establish my new wireless connection it fails caused by the DHCP paramaters. Has anyone been successful using another router or does anyone know how to resolve the DHCP connection fail problem

Re: Connection through non sky router

      Hi Chillie69,
VPN networking is an art in itself.
I have just tried my work VPN and it works fine.
This uses IPSEC protocol. I haven't tried using PPTP but assume that would also work.
However, many VPNs behave in different ways and rely on different ports and protocols to succesfully establish a tunnel and may well have a problem with certain routers.
I do know that the SKY routers do not have VPN endpoint support.(You cannot terminate a tunnel at the router)
      Regarding your other questions.
      PPPoA is required.
      VC-MUX
      0/38 VPI/VCI
      Dynamic IP
You will also require your sky username and password which must be extracted from the SKY router first.
See the technical forum for how to do this.
I would get all that working with a wire first (not wireless) then once you have established a internet connection test out your VPN then finally get the wireless working after that.
      Mac.
