      Angry wireless connection only work near to router

      Hi all

      I have a netgear GA 311 router supplied by sky. for some reason it disconects when i move my lap away from router (about 20 feet). can anyone help

      Hi u sure that model no is right ? The standard router supplied by sky is the netgear dg834gt, unless youre lucky and got the new black one , dont know model no of that one. However to try and answer your question make sure the router is away from sources of interference such as tv, microwave, is stood up on it legs as high as you can get it with the ariel extended. If this doesnt help try a different wireless channel as sometimes they can be effected by interference.

      this is GA311 - NETGEAR.com which is a pci card not a router is it this one http://broadband.sky.com/Images/product_image1.jpg as that has poor wireless
      signal strength [u can buy a booster for it but i dont know how good it is ]

      yes that is the router. where do I obtain a booster from. This is a new lap top, my previous one (which was exacactly the same as my new one) was stolen from my house, that laptop worked urther away from the router

      Try changing the channel for the wireless within the router, and also try moving the aerial on the router to a different angle, see if that helps.

      Try changing the channel for the wireless within the router.
      How do I do that !!
