Is it a PC or a laptop?

Try that see if it helps?

Thanks for that, although I think the problem is that I don't have a wireless card in my pc (although I do on my laptop). Are those USB adapters any good?

Re: Trying to connect wireless on XP but no wireless icon

From my experience, USB is less effective than PCI card (for desktop computer) or Cardbus/PCMCIA (for laptop).

Re: Trying to connect wireless on XP but no wireless icon

The wireless adaptors (USB) are ok although not the best alot of customers have recieved a DOA (Dead On Arrival) adaptor and hense needed replaced. Personally I wouldnt use wireless at all nothing at all beats a hard wired ethernet connection, having said that if I was to go down the wireless route then I would use a PCI card.
