      Constantly dropping connection.

      Hi,

if this gets as far as actualy posting on the forum i'll be amazed.

after having had problems for the first 4 or 5 months of getting sky broadband and finally getting them sorted through troubleshooting of this forum i have had a few months of blissful problem free web use.

all of a sudden on friday my connection went back to how it was before.

i am convinced it is a wireless problem as i am constanlty pinging the router and get 2 or 3 pings then get 'request timed out' for anywhere between 2 or 3 times to me having to repair connection. sometimes it works for 2 or 3 seconds, sometimes minutes. seems that so long as the connection is in use it will work, for example, when i initially connect i open up IE and get my homepage -google- as soon as i try to do anything else, the connection has dropped, repair, navigate to next page, same again, click next link, no connection. i managed to play Counterstrike for a couple of hours yesterday, as soon as i quit the game, the connection dropped. using run 'ping -t 192.162.0.1' to constantly ping the router backs this up.

using net stumbler there are 3 other wireless networks nearby. when i had problems before there were 2, i ended up using 1 as 6 and 11 were being used. there is a new wireless netwrok using channel 1 - i don't know when it appeared as i have not used netstumbler since i solved my problems a few months ago.

could that be the cause of my problems? is there a fix?

      thanks,

had problems for months when i first got it but after switching off uPnP and doing a few other small tweaks recommended on here - was a few months ago, can't remember exactly what was done - it has been fine.
