Can't even get WG111 Software to load - help!

It's my first post so be gentle with me.

I wonder if anyone can help? Got a relatively old PC (but still a Pentium running Windows XP) and have tried to load the WG111 adapter software onto PC but not having much luck. It will load the software up to a point but when it asks me to put the adapter into the USB port, it loads the remaining software, but then when I try and run the "Smart Wizard" to connect the network and input settings, etc, it won't run. If I remove the software, then connect the USB adapter, it will then run the Windows Hardware wizard, let me point it to the relevant drivers, but as I can't run the "Smart Wizard", how on earth am I ever going to get it to connect to the Sky network?

It's really frustrating so I would appreciate any help/advice people could give me. I did have a Belkin adapter on the PC before hand, but I removed the software to get the Netgear one on and can't find the install disk to even put that back on! Would there be a rogue driver for that knocking around that would prevent the Netgear smart wizard from running?

As you can see, I am clutching at straws so please help if you can.

      Thanks

Is your windows XP software up to date, I think you need service pack 2 for the adaptor to work.

I think most people would suggest connecting to the router by ethernet cable -- you may need to do so occasionally even when you've got your wireless sorted. If your PC lacks a network connector, a PCI card costs under a fiver -- you could use a USB version, though I wonder if USB is the source of the present problem.

Thanks very much for the advice - where could I get a PCI card for a fiver or so?

      Regards

Can't say I've ever paid for one new -- they turn up at car boot sales for 50p. Have a look at PC World, Maplin or any small computer store.
