      Router has re-set to default

      Interesting problem here...

During the day yesterday, a new user appeared on our wireless settings, so someone locally has has Broadband installed.

However, at virtually the same time, the internet failed, and a turn the power off and back on again restored it.

However, the routes has now defaulted back to its original config, and the WPA code has changed, the admin password changed back to the default, and all the banned websites have gone...

Anyone have any idea what's caused this?

Re: Router has re-set to default

Perhaps no mystery as the router could be reset to defaults (including admin password) by a power surge.

If the WPA passphrase is something new, maybe your new neighbour is responsible, though he couldn't have blundered onto your system by accident if encryption enabled at the time.

I doubt if he'd get in deliberately if WPA was enabled........unless (dum de dum dum.......) Sky had given your router the same WPA passphrase as his. No, forget it, they must be generated automatically when the firmware is installed.

Re: Router has re-set to default

      Hi, apc18phc, welcome to Skyuser.

The same thing has happened to me. It turned out to be the power supply in my case. It is unlikely to be a hack as hackers don't generally reset things to default thereby locking themselves out!
