Red face UPDATE - almost fixed, just a dns error now! :s

Bare with me here, as i am typing this on my psp which can still connect to the router.

Basically all has been fine (touch wood) but my wireless is now limited, as of 2 days ago.
      random notes.
-both the host pc and my pc are on win xp, with no changes made recently.

using the origanal router and a belkin adapter.

i have scanned with my psp and there are 4 routers locally all are on channel 11, i have changed ours from 5 to 1-4and6-10. to no avail.

i have power cycled everything several times.

      Re: Another limited-No connectivity user...

      slight update.

i got onto the router via the host pc, and i manually assigned my pc a seperate ip address, and i put in that to my pcin the other room and now it connects to the internet, but has a dns error.

i put the dns the same as this pc which is something like 192.168.0.1, my pc is assigned to ...0.4, i tired putting the dns in which starts 80 something on the router page but to no avail, and i tried changing the dns on my host pc but it lost connection.

      any help ?

i am connected under these details

ip - 192.168.0.4 (the host pc is 0.2, my psp is 0.3)
      gateway - 255.255.255.0
dns and the other option - 192.168.0.1

i appreciate any help you provide me. i have tried the ip flush, renew as well.

      Re: Another limited-No connectivity user...

This is probably not the most helpful suggestion but I for one avoid answering queries when they involve Playstations or Xboxes etc because I don't use them. Might simplify things if you try to eliminate the PSP for the time being and concentrate of getting a straightforward adapter to router connection.

Usually best to switch off firewalls and encryption and reset the router to defaults before starting.

Re: UPDATE - almost fixed, just a dns error now! :s

      Hey,

I had the exact same problem but i found out that i had a virus on my laptop, which stopped me connecting to the internet; it was a trojan horse!
I also had Zonealarm firewall which had Truevector on it, which also stops you connecting to the internet, so now i just use windows firewall. You should get rid of any firewall and put windows firewall on and then scan using a virus program.

      Good luck!

      Hope it works!

      Re: Another limited-No connectivity user...

there is several things it could(have) been

today i formatted my pc because i thought it was possible there were conflicting drivers.

but now whenever i place the usb dongle in, it'll connect, then disconnect (hardware disconnect not internet) and it is being really tempramentle.

so now i believe its a dodgy dongle, as i have tried it in other ports (i have 10 of them!)

i am going to try in the morning a hard cable to see if that connects and that the speeds are sufficiant, if so then i will replace the dongle.

anyone recommend a good cheapish dongle that works fine with the netgar router ?
