      Wireless Dropping out then reconnecting

The wireless connection from the Netgear 834GT keeps dropping out. It is driving me crazy. The broadband connection doesn't drop, just the wireless. I have even tried stripping out the sky firmware and updating to the latest Netgear one. It doesn't happen on my netgear my old 834dg!

I have had a scope through the forums here but can't find any info that helps me...

So please guys, can anybody help?? I am desperate. Thanks in advance (fingers crossed)

Re: Wireless Dropping out then reconnecting

I was going to suggest it was the UPnP bug but that doesn't seem to be an issue with Netgear firmware.

That leaves interference and range. Look for any neighbouring wireless networks and move to a channel 6 stops from the strongest.

Test the setup with the computer in the same room as the router to identify range issues. If that is the issue, see if you can reloacte the router and the computer adajacent to windows on the same side of the building -- wireless travels thru air better than thru brick.

Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me how I know what channel my neighbours are using please? There are at least 5 others i can pick up on my laptop.

      Upnp is switched off.

Try netstumbler - googleing should find it.

Does the wireless work better close up? - in my experience the Sky router has a poor range compared to others.

It is only about 5 meters away. Signal is very strong! It really is a bit strange.
