      Wireless connection isn't detected

I currently have two pc's connected to the Sky router, both via ethernet cable, as both computers are in different rooms, one of the cables has to run through the house, and therefore doors can't be fully closed.

We now need to connect one of the pc's wirelessly so that one of the doors can be fully closed (to keep out our new puppy) so i've installed a Belkin wireless adapter to the second PC and enabled the wireless on the router, however they aren't detecting each other. I've gone through all the guides on here, disabled all security features etc and i am getting nothing. I'm really stuck here, does anyone know what to do?

Have you tried it with the encryption off on the router?

Do I do that by selecting Disable under security options on the wireless settings page? If so, then yeah, I've tried it but had no luck

Yes, try uncrypted first and if that works then try the modes one at a time.

When you say they can't detect each other, do you mean that the Sky router doesn't even show up on your Wireless Networks list? If so, there is a setting for that too on the router admin page in the Wireless section. I think it's called "Broadcast SSID" or something to that effect (at work so can't verify).

      Re: Wireless connection isn't detected

Yeah the router isn't showing up in the Belkin wireless utility, I've checked and the broadcast SSID box is ticked. I'm not sure the Belkin software is working properly though, there is an option to use Windows wireless configuration tool instead of the Belkin utility. It is set to Belkin as default, so I changed it to Windows, but the save changes button remains unclickable, if you know what I mean.

Is there a way I can try and detect the router in Windows, atm I'm not having much look because I am stuck using the Belkin utility, so Windows won't let me do anything.

The Realist - I'm gonna go through all the modes like you suggested later on today when I have some spare time
