      1 laptop on network misbehaving!!!

been on sky broadband for nearly a week. v pleased so far, but last night one of my built in wireless laptops would not connect. (i have 2 other laptops and 1 desktop all connecting wirelessly).
when i view networks it shows my sky router easily but after trying to connect to it comes back with the error message 'limited or no connectivity' a yellow triangle symbol over the network icon in the system tray, and says something about not being able to do something regarding the network ip address?
      all other computers are fine.
any ideas what i can do please. it always just connected automatically as i switched on laptop??? tried tech support but no use there - what a surprise!!
      many thanks.

Might be an encryption issue. Go into router user interface (using another computer) and in the Wireless encryption section note down the HEX codes produced by the WPA passphrase and then apply them directly to the problem computer instead of the passphrase.

Reason: manufacturers may use different algorithms to translate a passphrase.

thanks for reply. what does hex codes mean please?
i have gone into my wireless cofiguration page but the encryption key is shown as ordinary letters. but these will not allow me to connect with this one rogue computer, even though it has been fine the last few days??

Re: 1 laptop on network misbehaving!!!

      success!!!!!
connected offending laptop to the router with the ethernet cable - it then connected to the internet allowing me to access the wireless router settings page.
not quite sure what happened after that!! but i pressed 'apply' and system tray on laptop showed it was connected wirelessly.
unplugged cable - restarted laptop and all connected fine.
so, not quite sure how (or why) but all is well at the moment.
any clues anyone?? i would like to know what had happened.
      many thanks.

Confusing isn't it -- actually you didn't get on the internet -- the Netgear user interface is stored in the router's firmware.

Re: 1 laptop on network misbehaving!!!

i thought that, but until i connected the ethernet cable, if i typed in 192.168.0.1 it would not connect to it!!!!
i am getting really confused now!
at least all seems to be ok now.
      thanks again for your help.
