two computers, two different speed tests

      This one just confuses me

I have two computers one with a wireless PCI card made by Linksys and one, a laptop, with a wireless card from Belkin.

The laptop speedtests come in at 512kbps and the PCs 1900kbps.

Any ideas why? I have run CCleaner, Tuneup, have SpywareBlaster on it and still can't find anything wrong. The only thing I can think of is as it is an HP with Win XP already installed on it that they have some naties running in the background hogging bandwidth.

      Any help greatly appreciated.

I have never reinstalled a "recovery disk" before but have reformatted and reloaded windows on another machine, is there much difference?

I have an HP laptop, I understand what you mean about those "nasties" never have I seen so much branding and crap.

Have you tried TCP Optimizer? It could be that the PCI Card is like G&B and the Laptop is G or B?

Though that shouldnt make a real difference only if you are networked and sharing large files.

Didn't change anything and back up to 1900+kbps

must have been doing some downloading int he background.
