Re: Should I Order Sky BB? Fell at first hurdle...

My attenuation is 46 and the best 24x7 sync I have found is 7600. As you know you're on G.DMT instead of ADSL2+. I spent quite a while getting me on ADSL2+, and it hasn't made any real difference to me.

As your attenuation will go up if they switch you to ADSL2+, you wont get much more DL sync (whilst maintaining the 7db NM).

...... so are you happy with those stats or are you going to try and get moved to ADSL2+?

tbh I am well happy now.

My broadband experience has just improved:

      • I am saving 238.44 per year against Freedom 2 Surf
      • I am around 1mb download speed faster than before
      • I am nearlyish double the upload speed faster than before
      • My cap has gone from 50gb to 350gb per month
      • Brand new wireless router
      • No traffic shaping - afaik
      • On face value - Better surfing speeds / sites load quicker
      • Great unofficial support forum - not that there was anything wrong with Freedom2Support - The Independent Freedom2Surf Support Community

The only thing missing is a Sky+ or Sky HD box nudge nudge wink wink

As I do not use any ISP's email, I am no worse off for Sky's irratic email service.

For those of you struggling to get connected, believe me in the end it is worth it!

As for the ADSL2 - where are those magic fairies when you need them?

I got that for two days until I got a phone call from an auto service from Sky telling me my Broadband was now active via a pre recorded voice.

It then worked with no problems.

So looks like it takes Sky a few days to update their databases.

      Good news for you!

I'm just sorry for others who do not have "the power" to get Sky to sort out their new connection problems in such a fast way.
      A simple crude speed test:-

      Download Test.

Re: Should I Order Sky BB? Fell at first hurdle...

I think if anything Sky have learnt a few things from this saga, they tell me they have.

The real test is to see how many people who have reported problems, get them resolved.

Just for the record, I did not want to use my position on here for this, hence I cancelled my TV contract etc.

Yes I have been lucky, Sky rang me and would appeared to have kicked some butt.

As long as they do this for most or everyone from then onwards, we have indirectly helped every potential customer. It is procedures that hold Sky back and BT who do not issue accurate timescales.

Hopefully now, things will go a lot smoother for everyone.
