The MAC is generated by the losing ISP, they would not know that I was going to Sky and so would not have had the chance to generate that code you are quoting.

Its too late now, I have seen my backside and cancelled everything to do with Sky. They could not even apologise which made it worse!

      What is a MAC key?

This is made up of various numbers and characters normally in the following format:-

4 letters (BBIP or FTIP), 8 numbers (up to 12 nos), forward slash, 2 letters, 2 numbers, 1 letter. eg: BBIP12345678/AB12A

Towards the end of 2006, the ownership of MAC keys will come under BT Openreach's remit and have a new format:
      <"L" 10 alphanumeric>/<5 alphanumeric> eg LBST1234567/DC22J.

This bit confuses me? they cannot migrate from BT IPSTREAM to LLU?

I was on Freeserve originally, and migrated from bt ipstream to LLU and used the MAC code freeserve/orange gave me .......... or am i talking wee wee's again?

If it's this change in the MAC code system that caused NewsreadeR's problem then I reckon that this is going to muck up a good number of orders until Sky cotton on to the change in the system.

Really sorry to hear about your problem NewsreadeR - think it's just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the MAC code system change over.

Newsreaders Mac code was - LZLV1234567/EM12O

      Mine is / was - LZLV0496154/EM20O

They are both the same format we are both on the same exchange but had different isp's mine was with Zen - my activation went through today without any problems thats the part I can not understand why the mac code was rejected for newsreader

Zen e-mailed me the mac and I cut and pasted it on the sky website order page rather than phone them up

Hmm... does seem a bit odd. Not another case of O and 0 getting mixed up again is it?
