The only real thing that is in common with the 416 theory, is that the users are connected at 8mb or below, this seems to be the pattern.

Would it be for stability issues? On those that cannot get ADSL2?

What? hmm newsreader's right we all seem to be on par or below 8mb dl speed aswell...

TBH I think there's too many people on the exchange so they can't cope. You can't even order Sky on my exchange anymore because it says there's been too much popularity.

I was just activated today so I thought they made a mistake with my connection, seeing this thread is (very slightly) reassuring..

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3392 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.7 db 14.0 db

I've just (accidentally) disconnected my ring wire from my master socket, new stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4288 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 9.8 db 13.0 db

Connected to Max today, surprisngly easily after just one false start.

Connection Speed 1728 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31 db
Noise Margin 7.0 db 14.0 db

This must be about the slowest connection speed you can get without stopping or going backwards.

There may be a big clue to this recent phenomenon in nFuriate's Major Update post - capacity problems on the exchanges here:-

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=6341&page=3

It's more than a bit naughty if it's linked - looks like they may possibly be cramming Max customers onto the MID package to keep the sign ups moving & pennies rolling in without updating the kit in the exchanges or more importantly telling the affected customers!!!!???? What do you think?

Could do with some input from the Sky/Easynet employees on here on this.

Isn't gossip and speculation a wonderful thing - which could all be avoided if Sky simply played the game and made a simple formal statement on here.

@Morthagrid - you should be getting higher connection speed than that with those figures it suggests a lot of noise on the line - have you tried connecting the router directly into your test socket behind the master socket faceplate to see if you get any improvement?
