      Painfully sloooooooooooow.

Anybody else finding the forum excruciatingly slow today, taking 2 or 3 minutes just to load a page? I'm giving up after posting this as not much seems to be happening anyway. The rest of the web seems unaffected to its not my connection.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

Ping is ok (no dropped packets) so I don't think that the server is under a DDOS attack.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

The homepage is indicating that there are something like 7,500+ people logged into the site. This is a little high and appears to have been sustained since last night, with a new peak of 7,868 showing. Ged is on the case.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

***** IMPORTANT ***** Perhaps me being suspicious, but I would recommend that anyone who uses the same password on SkyUser on any other forum or email account consider changing them elsewhere ASAP. Once things are back to normal please feel free to change your SkyUser password to a different one to that used elsewhere, but for the present time it's hard to do anything on the forum. I am not suggesting that SkyUser has been compromised or that any personal data has been stolen. At this time I have no idea what is happening other than someone appears to think that it is a good laugh to bring an independent forum down and prevent friendly people from helping one another. Since we don't have any need for financial transactions, there are no financial records on the forum. It is more perhaps that if you have a similar User ID on another forum or that you use the same password that there is a faint chance of a risk.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

Did that yesterday as a precaution. Caused all kinds of problems getting my Sky ID to sync with my Sky Yahoo mail account. After about five password changes I ended up re-installing Thunderbird which picked up Yahoo's mail servers instead of Sky's. Don't know if it was just co-incidence but this cleared the problem and I was able to revert to the normal servers. One thing I found intensely annoying was that the Sky ID sign in page insisted on taking me to another page to input a captcha before informing me that either my user name or password was incorrect.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

Something is definitely amiss, I doubt if the were 7,868 users on line at 11pm last night or that there are 6575 logged in now, especially with the way the forum is responding. Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

      Re: Painfully sloooooooooooow.

Well if it works with Sky boxes perhaps it will work with Skyuser, can someone reboot the server?
