      Slow Speeds Anyone ?

Those of you having slow speed problems especially on the connect package could you please check your exchange here it looks like all of the BT exchanges around the country are showing red which means there is not enough bandwidth to go around.

This is not a Sky problem and is affecting other ISP's as well, we can only guess at why BT have not upgraded the exchanges for more bandwidth yet but I'm pretty sure the ISP's will be putting pressure on BT to get it fixed ASAP,
just another example of ISP's relying on the inadequate BT network.

Likewise mine has been red for a number of weeks now and I think the current problems on the Connect package are more to do with problems with Sky (as posted in another thread somewhere by another member) than anything else.

Dont think they can claim that one and actually expect people to believe it ?

I was with Pipex for 4 years, and its only since switching over to sky that I have had any problem - the problems lie with SKY, no doubt whatsoever in my mind.

Muppet - could you try the echange checker and tell us what it says? My exchange checker was showing green about 7 days ago, and now it shows red.

However I am not connected to Sky, so it is feasible.

I can hear what you are saying Newreader but I just don't believe that every ISP out there is having these problems. I haven't seen anything that suggests otherwise.

My exchange (gourock) has been red for a few weeks but it's only the last few days I've had real problems with sites timing out and the internet refusing to work at all.

Indeed it is red, has been for a few weeks, but consider the following :

      1) Before I switched to Sky I had no problems with ADSL from Pipex

      2) I have friends on the same exchange, with different ADSL suppliers and they dont have the problems.

Mine is red and I am on connect having troubles with pages timing out an awful lot, rang sky and they are aware of a problem at their end (maybe its BT) anyhow I seem to have troubles when I attempt to access https pages or secure pages.

The sky guy on the phone asked me to try bbc.co.uk which timed out first try, second try it worked, but it is very very sporadic, sometimes it will work and other times it wont, I am well out of the ADSL max training period and havent had timeout problems with sky until now. shame real shame
