      Re: Forums Upgrade

I don't know if its relevant, but recently (over the last few days) I've had problems where I've tried to post and got a database error message - then I've used the browser back button (holding my breath hoping it remembered what I'd spent ages typing!) and tried to post again, only to be told I can only post once every so many seconds (intimating that I've already posted).

Also ... I tried to send a PM to someone earlier who had a full mailbox. I probably tried quite a few times over a length of time, before forgetting what I'd been doing, and exiting the browser () - but then when their inbox was cleared I recieved 9 messages telling me that ... I'm assuming possibly one for each time I tried to send? Good job I'd just cleared my inbox or they would have been getting replies to their replies

The only thing I have noticed is when you click the back button on your browser the thread you were in now shows as being read when it didn't before.

Do you know what the message said?

If it happens again is there any chance you could grab a screenshot?

Did the post actually get posted, or did it refuse to because of the so many seconds message?

Thanks for letting us know, we have had an issue with storage space recently (we really need a bigger server now) which we have managed to combat by deleting old log files etc etc so the performance should be significantly better from now on.

I think tbh we will be moving servers very soon anyway, as this one is 3 or 4 years old now and is prehistoric in PC years. (It's just going to be a major nightmare to plan and then implement)

I was my email which was full.

I've since cleared it out, but can't respond via PM. I've sent an email to yourself Ged with the error details. The strange thing is I was about 10 emails short of full when I went out this morning.

Hopefully this issue has now been rectified.

It seems to be. Thank you.

Sorry to someone who received multiple PMs saying the same thing earlier. It appears that the error was indicating that the PM didn't go through, but was.

I will keep an eye on things, anyone else who has any problems please let us know in this thread.

      @Alan

I sometimes get that as well, but even before the last upgrade.

I didn't really take much notice to be honest .. I was just dismayed that I'd spent ages typing a reply and it might have disappeared! It mentioned something about a database error, thats all I saw. If I see it again, I'll take a shot of it.

Because of the multiple post muck-up i did the other day, and because when I tried to post the PM again straight away and got the so many seconds message, I thought it may have actually gone, despite the first message - so before I attempted to resend (after the timeout), I checked my "sent items" box and it was there. So yes .. it did get posted despite the database error message.

I've deleted them now, but no, they were multiple copies of two replies that Scubbie sent to me.

I've since had another message that came through 4 times - 9.38, 9.39, 9.40 and 10.08. edit ... to clarify .. this was a PM I got 4 copies of .. it wasn't the same PM as before .. if that makes sense :P

I don't know if this is before or after your fix

      Re: Forums Upgrade

It appears that the fault has been repaired.

Although the forum software was reporting an issue with the database, and a particular add-on, the email was still being sent through. This is why there were so many copies.

If anyone else gets a "Database Error" whether from posting or sending a PM, please let Ged know. Take a copy of the error report and post, PM or email it to Ged. There is a 'Contact Us' link on the error page which will allow you to send an email.

      Re: Forums Upgrade

For those with the SMTP problems this morning, it was a completely seperate issue, as the SMTP is on a different server.

I have given a reason in the other thread.

Once again sorry for any inconvenience, hopefully we have had enough gremlins this week now.
