      Re: Server Downtime

We need to install a piece of software, so the server may go off for a few mins shortly.

Still looking at options at the moment.

It is going to be a complete nightmare to swap over etc as we would need duplicate (albeit temp) licence keys for all the software etc for when it is installed on 2 servers.

Hopefully soon, although the changes made today, should help an awful lot, as they were configuration ones that were advised to be done.

If all goes to plan before Xmas, and then we should be OK for another few years.

      Re: Server Downtime

My experience with servers is quite limited.

If the issue were as simple as just porting the contents to a new hard drive, then I'd use some imaging software such as Norton Ghost or Acronis.

Having just helped a friend this week upgrade her Laptop's HD from 80GB to 640GB, I know some of the issues involved.

(I have also done the same thing on other Laptops & PCs previously)

      Bad Ged!

Now write 100 times "I must not turn off the SkyUser Server"...

LOL It took me about 3 minutes before I realised I had turned the mysql side of things off. The several hundred emails that I received kind of alerted me.
