SkyUser IP / Website Pinger
Tonight we launch our SkyUser IP / Website Pinger, a handy tool for pinging a destination to help with network diagnostics.
This tool is completely free of charge for our guests and our members, and was coded for us by UseLess. Now, if anyone is asked to provide a ping for analysis on our forums, (or any other forum) there's no need to open a DOS box, and do it the old fashioned way.
To capture the results, just click on the copy / paste button and then paste them into your forum post / thread.
How to use:
1) Download the SkyUser IP / Website Pinger and save to your desired location
2) Click on the Pinger.exe file that you have just downloaded in step 1
3) Enter the IP or the website address into the Host Name or IP Address field
4) Click the Ping Host button - this will then ping the IP or the website that you have entered, to see if there are any network issues
5) Click the Copy Results To Clipboard button
6) Then paste these into your forum post / thread
7) Close the Pinger

Re: SkyUser IP / Website Pinger
That did the trick.
Is it always the case to remove the www or is it just with certain sites? If so, what about in the next version having some code to check the first 3 characters entered and if www then auto remove them.
Nice app tho, better than having to use a dos window. What was it built with.. VB?

Suggestion added RDC as well as the ability to get your router stats as well - Although this is still work in progress.

Re: SkyUser IP / Website Pinger
Greetings,
Just certain sites.
And done, the 'www.' thing but still waiting on some other info before it'll be released probably.
And it was done in Delphi much the same as VB, in that it's a visual design enviroment but the code is Pascal and better than VB as the exe requires no other support files, in most cases, therefore a true standalone app.

Re: SkyUser IP / Website Pinger
I do like this app. Very nice indeed. Will help massively in diagnosing problems.
On the 'copy to clipboard', does it (or can it) also copy the router type so that when people paste it into a thread we know which router they definitely have?

Re: SkyUser IP / Website Pinger
I'll stop soon, honest.... What about reminding users on the app of the default username and password when you run the get user stats?
