Beta - Submit your own article

We have added a nice new feature tonight, to test and see how popular this would be with our members. Submit your own article. You would need to be a member and logged in to be able to view this link. As a member and logged in, you should be able to see the submit link at the bottom of the page, on any of the CMS pages.

The page we have setup at the moment for reading these articles is here.

We can now allow our members to contribute in our CMS, this can take place in the form of News, Reviews, Tutorials and so on. Initially your article would be pending for us to approve and we plan on putting any articles in their own section. However, if it is more useful in say, the Tutorial section, we should be able to move this across at a later date.

At the moment, this is in beta, and to be honest we need to find out how it will work. If anyone would like to have a play with this, and maybe submit some News items or whatever you feel like, feel free to give it a go.

As per usual feedback would be great in this thread.

Re: Beta - Submit your own article

The following described options and screenshots may differ and some fields may not display depending on administrator preferences.

Title - Enter the title (name) of your story (for example, 'This is my new story'). If you do not enter it you will get a 'Missing argument(s): Title' message.

Abstract - Enter your Abstract (summary) in the text editor. Your text should be short two or three sentences long.

Category - Select a desired category from the drop-down menu where you want your story to show up.

Abstract image - To add an image to your story, click Browse button and in the dialog box select the current location of the image that you want to add.

Image Caption - Image caption field has the same effect like Alt tag in HTML. When you point your cursor on some image on your website, this image description will appear.

Click on the 'Submit' button when you are done. You will get the message 'Story is waiting for approval'.

Re: Beta - Submit your own article

Quick question can videos be embedded into this or should it be direct links?

Can the articles be edited after submitting?

Easy and clear to understand. Sometimes the obvious needs to be explained.
(I am still not sure how you upload photographs to this site.)
I do know how to upload, and store my photos at photobox, and share them with friends.

The LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at the European Particle Physics laboratory (CERN)
in Geneva, Switzerland had to be closed down.
All those clever scientists looking for the God particle made a silly mistake.
Like not knowing how to change a fuse.
The LHC cost 5 Billion to build.

Videos can be embedded in this version.

Sky User - Help and Support for Sky TV and Sky Broadband - Sky+ HD - Frog Advert ( True Colours by Ane Brun ) as an example

Good question. We can edit them for sure, as for a member - I don't think that functionality is there yet. All it would take is a PM to us though to sort etc until we get that sorted.
