      Ask Sky!

We are behind the scenes trying to set up a mechanism to pose certain questions to Sky for their perusal and a chance to reply.

What we wish to achieve is genuine answers to our members' / visitors' concerns on a regular basis. Whilst we fully acknowledge that Sky are absolutely, under no pressure or indeed any form of commitment, to answer any of these questions, we would hope that this idea, could turn into a productive part of our website.

We have already spoken to our contact at Sky this week, with a view on how we can progress, or how we can make things easier for our members / visitors or in essence, Sky's own customers.

I must once again reiterate, Sky are absolutely under no obligation to answer these questions. This is something that we have asked Sky to consider and respond to accordingly.

If you have any genuine questions / concerns, and you would like the chance for us to forward these on, feel free to add to this thread.

If we could keep these questions, legitimate, and of value, rather than just a moan, we could hopefully illicit some informative replies.

      Re: Ask Sky!

I think one of the oldest and widest sought answers would be

"Will sky change their stance on allowing people to use their own routers, if that users is experiencing problem with sky's router or knows what they are doing, given that for support purposes the sky router can be attached?"

(I know I could phrase it better but hey ho im all excited about this tutorial im about to write).

      Re: Ask Sky!

We have already sent three questions to Sky, along the lines of:

      1) The condition in Sky's T and C's about the use of the Sky router or using your own

      2) DLM - is it being revisited in October?

      3) The rumour of the 20 new HD channels

      Re: Ask Sky!

      I would like to see:

      - the sky+/hd box sold in such a way that the HDD is upgradable by the consumer (akin to the PS3) without voiding warranty
      - box upgrades sold without installation (and in turn without dish/cabling warranty)
      - the ability to use personal choice of router (and forgoing router support from sky)
      - more info on exchange upgrades (especially those which are 'sold out'
      - service status on the sky website
      - MySky to actually remember you properly as I have to always fully re-log in to get my regional variarations on the TVlistings page based on my subscription
      - EPG to be a month in advance (obviously subject to change and other broadcastors providing the info)
      - USB ports enabling on all boxes to provide at minimum power (so I can charge my ipod from it!!!)
      - develop a sky router with wireless N

In the event, at some time in the future, of broadband usage limits being rigorously enforced, I would like to see my these stats made available through the mysky account area.

I agree with this, and perhaps that is why Sky have not enforced the limits because they we do not have an official way of checking what we use.

Although not now personally effected, I would like to know when Sky will provide Connect users with proper guidance on their connection, similar to the Plusnet article I have linked to several times.
